ePub files will show up under books in the iBooks app on an iPad
Compare to a pdf - you can't zoom in and resize
You can embed pictures
You can resize font and will automatically repaginate
You have to stick with standard fonts
ePub files must be done in Word Processing section of Pages NOT Page Layout
When editing ePub, make sure to go to View - Show Styles Drawer
Inspector window is how you drive changes to the text, etc.

When adding graphics make sure they are inline NOT floating.
To get your ePub on your iPad you have to Share/Export it. Select ePub. Give it a title. Check the box for the first page as a book cover. Click where you are going to Export. A warning may appear, don't worry about this.It's just a disclaimer.
